However at the end we were rewarded with a circling school of Horse Eye Jacks! They were amazing to watch and they circled around and went right through us! Best part of the entire dive. I found a small spotted grouper that my family didn't see. We did spot 1 spotted trunkfish, a spotfin butterly and trumpet. There were a lot of grunts, schoolmaster snappers, blennys, a few squirrelfish, and a few parrotfish. It mostly had juvenile fish and we didn't spot many "unusual" fish like we normally see diving. It's not as good as places like Roatan where there's nothing but coral below, but it was decent. It was situated here and there between areas of sand. There was a decent amount of coral and I was pleasantly surprised. Now my anxiety was on high after this ordeal. It wasn't on, but was spinning from the water and it scared me. Once in, the water kept carrying me toward the boat and my leg hit the propeller.
However, they weren't having it and made me go in. Our daughter went first and then he wanted me to go again and kept trying to get me over to the edge of the boat (I have a previous leg injury and feel more comfortable if my husband goes in before me). One of the issues I had was the person that stayed on the boat during our dive was rushing me to get into the water. It was a short boat ride out to the Acuario (Aquarium) dive site. Not a problem as they put all the equipment in a cart and take it for you. After that, we had to walk a ways to the dock.
The skills was a little hard to do because we weren't in deep enough water and the sand was so stirred up we couldn't see our instructor well. We went over our instructions, as we always do, then went out into the water at the beach in front of them to do our skills. They are located on the Malecon at Blue Reef. I had a great feeling about this company and decided to book. We are very selective when we go diving (Do Discover Scuba on every vacation) and this owner was super nice and answered every question I had and reassured us of our dive.
